Students learn the fundamental techniques of Muay Thai Kickboxing, plus strength, conditioning and stretching. The basics of Muay Thai kickboxing include: stance, footwork, punches, kicks, knees & elbows. Muay Thai kickboxing (Thai Boxing) is a form of Martial Arts from Thailand. Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or the "Science of Eight Limbs" because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight "points of contact", as opposed to "two points" (fists) in boxing.
A practitioner of muay Thai is known as a nak muay. Western practitioners are sometimes called Nak Muay Farang, meaning "foreign boxer."
MMA (ages 16+, all-levels) PRIVATE LESSONS ONLY
This lesson consists of Muay Thai Kickboxing, No-Gi grappling & submission moves. The class focuses on beginner techniques for Muay Thai/Grappling & MMA.
Mixed martial arts (MMA), is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking & grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, from a variety of other combat sports.
This is NOT a sparring class. **MMA gloves, MMA/boardshorts, rashguard/tight fitting shirt & mouth guard recommended.
American Kickboxing (ages 16+, all-levels)
Students learn the fundamental techniques of American-style kickboxing plus strength, conditioning & stretching.
The basics of American Kickboxing are stance, footwork, punches, kicks above the waist & leg sweeps. Leg kicks, clinching, kneeing or elbows are prohibited in this style of kickboxing.
SELF-DEFENSE is NOT learned in 1 hour a year! It must be practiced often and once the skill is learned, you must practice it to maintain a strong level of defense. These private lessons teach women to find the power within themselves, to protect themselves from being a victim, both standing up and on the ground (grappling). In each class we focus on the importance of awareness, prevention, streetwise precaution and most importantly, self-defense. This program incorporates strength training and a variety of self-defense techniques. All of our Self Defense lessons are taught by active Female Law Enforcement or Fighters. MOUTH PIECE & HEADGEAR REQUIRED!
Yoga for Martial Artists by Joell Lanfrank (all-levels)
Yoga at Girl Fight is perfect for the girl who thinks, "Yoga is not for me" or for the female fighter looking to strengthen her mind and improve flexibility. It is an All-level class which means its perfect for beginners and yogi's alike. Our Yoga instructor is creative, talented, patient and knows how to have a good time. She has specifically designed each class for the female looking to tone her body and improve her flexibility and mental fitness. Yoga is a low-impact workout that will burn fat, tone muscles and strengthen your mind through consistent practice.
We believe: Yoga is the Ying to Martial Arts' Yang....If you want to be a well-rounded Martial Artist, you must have a Yoga practice!
Strength, Cardio & Conditioning (ages 16+, all-levels)
This is a 30 min interval training class that fits into your tight schedule. This class will give you a glimpse of a fighter's workout training, minus getting punched and kicked. Thai Body Fit is geared to drop weight, build lean muscle and endurance. It will incorporate strength training, endurance training and Martial Arts inspired Fitness moves. NO EQUIPMENT OR EXPERIENCE NEEDED!
(Girls ages 7-10 & 11-15)
This program teaches girls discipline, self-worth and the fundamental techniques of Muay Thai Kickboxing, MMA, Boxing & Self defense. Students learn the importance of defensive moves and are taught to respect themselves and others through activities requiring teamwork. The Martial Arts, aka "Karate", are a skill set that takes time and discpline to master. All of our students are on a journey towards their Black Armband and understand that Martial Arts is a practice, not a fitness class. The emphasis is on learning martial arts and exercising in a fun and safe environment. All under the supervision of instructors trained and experienced with developing the skills of young children and adults. Skill building activities are used to keep the children focused and enthused. Positive reinforcement for goals achieved, is the foundation of this program.
