  1. Is it safe to train in Muay Thai Kickboxing, MMA or Grappling?

    Yes, it’s perfectly safe to train at Girl Fight Martial Arts. All classes are set in a carefully controlled fitness environment and directed by an experience instructor. All training is taken on our special padded floor or boxing ring to ensure maximum safety and protection to the joints of the body.

  2. Do I have to be fit to come to the classes?

    Absolutely not! The classes will build the fitness you require to train and lead a healthy successful life.

    90% of our students are out of shape when they get here. They know they need to change their lifestyle and they're looking for a fun way to do it!

  3. I just wanna lose weight! I don't want to bulk up or fight.

    Then you came to the right place. Girl Fight was started by Kru Prairie, because all she wanted to do is lose weight and inspire women to try the Martial Arts. She never thought she would be competing!

    We offer all kinds of clases at Girl Fight, 95% of the classes are "no contact" . They are made up of pad work, heavy bags, conditioning and strength training. Most of our girls, are in it just for the fitness benefits. We do offer "Full Contact" classes for the students who are interested in taking it to the next level.

    While this is a martial art first, you will lose weight quickly by training regularly. The workout consists of using your natural body weight, so you will tone your body to its most natural shape! If you google, "Muay Thai fighters" you will see they are 99% lean and ripped! So NO, YOU WILL NOT BULK UP!

    A good portion of our new "out of shape" students, that start off on a 3 day week program and eat right, have lost up to 10lbs in 2 weeks. While everyone is different, and some lose weight faster than others, if you take your Muay Thai/MMA training seriously, you will easily lose weight quickly and have fun doing it!

  4. I am overweight and conscious of my body will I be embarrassed?

    Most certainly not! We are here to help everyone achieve their full potential, avoid bullying and ensure a friendly safe training atmosphere for all our students. There is an instructor on duty at all times. She will ensure all the students are welcome and progressing at their own individual pace. Plus, 95% of our students came to us because they were out of shape and tired of feeling overweight. We have so many great success stories here!!

  5. How old do I have to be?

    We offer a kids program 6-12 years old and our Adult classes are open to girls 13 years and older. Most of our students range from 16-60 years of age, but there is always an exception to the rule. If you are under 18, you must bring your parent or guardian in to sign waiver on your 1st day of class.

    We have found that mixing up the age groups, work out really nice for the girls that are a little daintier and would rather train with a smaller female.

    Plus, its awesome quality time for Moms and teenage daughters! It’s a great way to bond with your teenager, while you both get in shape and reach your goals together.

  6. What should I wear?

    You may wear any suitable fitness style clothing. The majority of our students wear shorts, capris, sweatpants and T-shirt. Remember, when picking your attire you will be kicking and moving around, so pick something you will find comfortable. We have a strict "shoes/socks off" policy.

  7. Do I need gloves or any equipment?

    You can use our equipment during your Free 2 Weeks. If you decide to continue your training, you will be required to purchase your own gloves, uniform. We carry a student starter package which includes everything you need! You are NOT required to buy your equipment through us.

  8. How much is it and how do I pay?

    We offer 2 weeks FREE, no gimmicks! It doesn't cost you a thing to try out the Girl Fight program. After your 1st class, we will go over our memberships with you, in person.

    The classes are paid monthly by Direct Debit to make it easy for everyone. Monthly billing also has the advantage of encouraging you to train. Its easy in the winter to look out the window, see the rain or snow, and think that if I miss the class I can always go next time. When you pay on the door its even easier to think up excuses for yourself to stay in and become a couch potato. You are more likely to stay motivated when you pay in advance. Plus, its cheaper to pay monthly then per class.

  9. I currently train at another school, can I still come train at Girl Fight?

    Of course! We are not one of those martial arts schools that try to "own" our students or put down other schools. If you're currently a student at another martial arts school, out of respect, you may want to notify your Head Instructor that you are planning to attend a Girl Fight class. If you enjoy our program, we have no problem with you attending both schools. 

    At Girl Fight, we believe a true Martial Artist/Fighter should train with numerous trainers. This will help you find your individual strengths and advance your skills, while keeping an open mind to new techniques.

    If you belong to a school that puts down other schools, trainers or tries to tell you where you are allowed to train....you may want to rethink where you're at. A true Martial Artist never bullies others!!!

  10. I'm not sure if I should come on my own?

    We recognize that it can be intimidating for some people to take that first step through the door, especially if people are completely new to the marital arts or you have had a bad experience at another school in the past. We make sure that all potential students are made welcome.

    We offer the 2 weeks free of charge with absolutely no commitment, so that you can make sure that you are happy with both our teaching style and the atmosphere of the school before joining. We always make sure that new students are taught the basic techniques and what to do when on a 1 to 1 basis with one of the instructors or staff to ensure that no one is left not knowing what to do and feeling awkward.

  11. I live far away from Girl Fight, can I still attend?

    Of course!! We have many students that travel from over an hour away to train with us, because we are the only true ALL FEMALE Martial Arts academy in NJ. Whether you're from Ocean, Monmouth, Atlantic, Burlington, Bergen, Essex, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Salem, , Somerset, Sussex, Union or Warren county....YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME AT GIRL FIGHT!!

  12. Do you have any ladies training?

    95% of our classes are strictly ladies only. We are NOT a Co-Ed School offering a Women's only Class. We do offer Co-Ed adult classes 3 nights a week.
